Reverend P. H. Price will Lying-In-State and his loving family will receive guests on Thursday September 14th from 2pm to 6 pm in the sanctuary. Until the trumpet sounds, Rev. Phillip Harmon Price will rest spiritually in the arms of Jesus, within Pikes Peak National Cemetery of Colorado Springs with final committal rites and military honors on Tuesday September 19th 2023 at 12pm sharp.

“To everything there is a season; a time to be born”..  Ecclesiastes 3:1

Phillip (Phil) Harmon Price, lovingly known as Pop(s), Dad, Rev, Dr. Phil, Uncle Phil, was born to Leonard McKinley Price and Christine Page Price on February 11, 1946, in Blacksburg, VA. The fifth of eight children.

“When I was A Child”..  II Corinthians 13:11

Phil graduated from Montgomery County Schools in 1963. Phil and his sister Anna were the first two students to integrate, and Phil was the first black student to graduate from Blacksburg High School. Following graduation, he entered the United States Air Force.

“A time to love”..  Ecclesiastes 3:4

While stationed at Homestead Air Force Base in Homestead, Florida, Phil met and married the love of his life, Carrie Mae Coley on July 26, 1968. They were parents to two children, Gail Price Lott, and Johnnie Lee Price.

Adventurers at heart, Phil and Carrie loved to travel. The Air Force provided multiple opportunities for travel throughout Europe and several states in the US. While stationed in Germany, Phillip gave his life to Christ in 1970.

In 1973, while serving at Lincoln Park Apostolic Church in San Antonio, TX, under Bishop William A. Ellis, Phil was ordained and served as a Deacon. During his tour of duty at the Air Force Academy in 1977, where he supervised the outpatient pharmacy, Phillip was called into the ministry while serving at Christ Temple Apostolic Church.

After losing his sight and medical retirement in 1983, Phil went on to acquire multiple degrees and certifications, including an associate's, bachelor's, and master’s degree as well as chaplain, and licensed professional counseling certifications. He was a living testimony of the goodness of God. Phil and Carrie developed a love for cruising and cruise ship buffets, traveling to Hawaii, Greece, and Mexico. They also traveled around the country in their RV ministering and adopting family and friends wherever the road would take them.

He became an ordained minister in 1993 while pastoring a church in Blacksburg, VA. Because of his love for God and the people of God, Phil became a Christian counselor.  He established the counseling ministry at Love and Faith Christian Fellowship in Greensboro, NC in 2000 where he served under Bishop Michael Thomas until 2008. After moving back to Colorado Springs in 2008, he and his wife Carrie opened Phillip Price Counseling. They became members of Emmanuel Missionary Baptist Church where they served as members of the ministerial team, taught bible study, and led the marriage ministry under Bishop Cleveland A. Thompson.

He enjoyed fishing, watching sports and the news, traveling, going to the movies, eating buttery popcorn, and hanging out with family.

“I am now ready to be offered”..  II Timothy 4:6

On September 7, 2023, at 7:07 p.m., with his wife, daughter, and son-in-law by his side, Phil was called from labor to reward. The Lord welcomed Phil home and said, “Well done thy good and faithful servant, take your rest.”  Phil transitioned from his earthly body to his heavenly body in which he will experience no more pain and suffering. Phillip was preceded in death by his parents, Leonard and Christine; son, Johnnie Lee; brothers, James, McKinley, Clarence, and sister, Vanessa.

“I will not leave you comfortless”..  St. John 14:13

Phil will be remembered most for his love for God, his wife, and his family. He touched many lives with his kind, gentle spirit, wisdom, sense of humor, wit, and laughter. Though he did not have his physical sight, he possessed keen spiritual insight. Phil had many spiritual daughters and sons whom he loved dearly.

Phillip leaves to celebrate and cherish his life: His loving wife of 55 years, Carrie; daughter, Gail (Gary); grandchildren, Allison (Mario) and Daniel (Alicia); great-grandchildren, Liliana and Ian; nephew, Arthur; Godchildren, Danny Rogers, Minister Ethan Hagan, and Nicole Williams; siblings, Randolph (Hazel), Kaywood (Cathy), Anna Price, and Tony (Brenda); three sisters-in-law, Donna, Nancy, and JoAnn, and a host of nieces, nephews, large extended church family, and friends.
