On a cool crisp autumn day in Chicago, IL; October 12th, 1956, to be exact, God blessed Robert Sims and Edna Craig with a son whom they named Charles. Affectionally known as Chuck, his parents saw that he was a creative soul that was blessed with a gift that flourished throughout his life. Under the guidance of his mother Edna, Charles accepted Jesus Christ as his personal savior at an early age.
Charles excelled in the trade of maintenance/carpentry, an occupation he took pride in and the work that he have done in his life. Charles was a natural handyman, from electronics to even a nice hot meal, making him one of the best home chefs ever. Charles could fix any and everything he touched.
On April 5th, 1997, Charles wed Marquita Collier- Sims. Their union was blessed with a daughter, Aaliyah. Though worldly events eventually caused them to separate, the bond created within their marriage held true and blossomed into a friendship.
Charles possessed pure natural talents in the arts and even cracking jokes. His love for the arts was a talent he passed on to his children. During his leisure time, Charles enjoyed dancing (steppin'), music and playing his many instruments that included bass and lead guitar, keyboard and drums. Charles loved building furniture and was known for the beautiful pieces he produced over the years.
Charles took pride in everything he did and was gifted beyond measure. To Charles, presentation meant everything. “Measure three times and cut once" and “work smarter, not harder," were just some of the many phrases he adopted and applied in life.
Like the twinkling of an eye on December 4th, 2017, Charles heard the master’s call and enter his heavenly rest. Charles was greeted at heaven’s gates by his father, Robert Sims.
