Cheryl Bruton Obituary

Cheryl Ann Bruton was born on July 13, 1947 to the union of Vallee & Wilson Bruton in Chicago IL. She was the 5th of 10 children. Cheryl was affectionately known as Piggy by family and close friends. She was raised in Robbins, IL. Where she attended Lincoln Memorial Elementary, Thomas J. Kellar Jr. High & graduated from Dwight D. Eisenhower H.S in Blue Island.
Cheryl worked several jobs but if you asked her, she only cared to mention the Village of Robbins, where she worked as a clerk for a number of years, before starting her career with the Moraine Valley Community College GED Program where she worked as a clerk for the programs administrator for nearly 30 years before retiring. She loved her job working with people that were trying to better themselves. She was just that kind of a person always wanting to help someone do better.
Piggy (PB) Bruton was always on the go. She would get in that Hyundai and go wherever it took her. She and her brother and Road Dog Melvin were always "in the streets" as she would put it. She loved working word puzzles, watching all of the cooking shows and trying new recipes. She loved to shop whether it was "In the streets" or on TV. She was an avid Home Shopping Networker. But her best kept secret pastime was watching TI & Tiny. She loved that show... ... . She also had a way with words. She had a language all of her own. A few of her signature phrases were; "Just when I thought my meat was done, somebody took my bread and run." Meaning she had to spend some money unexpectedly. Or telling you to "Hush yo socks" meaning be quiet. Oh how she would make us laugh with her PB language... . The most memorable phrase she would say was, "I'm just listening for my name."... ... ... ..
Well on May 11th,2016 at 9:02am she must have heard her name. She fell asleep in death after a long hard fight with Cancer. She was preceded in death by her parents, and older brother Michael "Mickey" Pierre, and older sister Alfreda "Bootsie" Gill. The legacy she lives behind is a loving son Norman Bruton and daughter in law Jackie, 4 sisters; Elsie Pierre-Davis, Jamille Sanders, Rochelle Pernell, & Venita Pernell. 3 brothers; Melvin Bruton, Bill (Rhonda) Bruton; & Harold (Svetlana) Pernell. 2 grandsons Branden and Marcus Williams, 2 step granddaughters Janae Cotton and Treasure Williams, & 2 step grandsons Nathaniel Wilson and Christopher Cotton. She also leaves behind too many nieces and nephews cousin, family and friends that we just can't name them all...
Cheryl Ann Bruton you will be missed. As your Mom would say, "Never say goodbye, but See ya later."
