Life is just a stopping place, a pause in what's to be, a resting place along the road, to sweet eternity...

On March 1st, 2025 at 13:37HRS, Colonel Larry Oscar Anderson, of Colorado Springs Colorado crossed this finish line of this life, and transitioned from earthly labor to his heavenly reward.

The homegoing celebration will commence promptly on Wednesday March 12th, 2025 at 11am located within the sacred walls of Emmanuel Missionary Baptist Church -North Campus

3615 Vickers Dr Colorado Springs CO, 80918 while Colonel Anderson will Lie-in-repose from 9am until the time of service. Gracious Host – Bishop Cleveland Thompson

The Mortuary Master & Federal Mortuary Affairs Detail will escort Ret. Lt. Colonal Anderson and his family the last mile of the way for the final burial & committal rites that will commence at 1pm located at the Air Force Academy Cemetery – 3024 Parade Loop, USAF Academy, Colorado Springs, CO 80840 In order for anyone who does not possess a DoD ID card or are not traveling in the same car as someone who does, the attached QR code OR URL code must be completed prior to arriving at the south or north gate or access will not be granted.

It was a crisp fall day in Armorel, Arkansas (Mississippi County), on October 23rd, 1951 to be exact, that Pearlie-Mae (Sally) and Elijah Anderson welcomed a handsome screaming chocolate bouncing baby boy into the world. After much thought & consideration, they made the executive decision to name their unique bundle of joy, Larry Oscar Anderson.

Throughout his early years, Larry was a brilliant student who understood the importance of an education. Larry Graduated high school at 16 years old. Upon completion of high school he received his BA of Science at Arkansas State University. He earned a Master of Mathematics and a Master of Science from Michigan State University as well as being a member of Phi Kappa Phi.

Larry O. Anderson married Alberta Brooks in college after 3 weeks.  They have been married 54 years as of March 4th.  Larry entered officer training school in San Antonio, TX and entered the Air Force in 1972 where he was a bombardier in the  B52 that now sits at the north gate of the Air Force Academy base. Larry taught astronomy and math as a college professor and ran the planetarium at the Air Force Academy.   He was the first black officer to run the detachment in La Junta, CO. He retired after 22 years of service as a Lt Col.

Now in the spare time on any given day after retirement, you could find Larry doing one of the things she cherished most, spending quality time with family, friends and loved ones.  Especially worked in his yard, while listening to old school music. Larry was the go-to for many individuals, easy to talk to, and a strong shoulder to lean on for both family, and friends. But the one statement that Family oriented, very loving, ambitious, outgoing, dedicated, hardworking, and very humble were all qualities that describe the essence of his nature. Anyone who knew him understood that he didn’t say much, but when he opened his mouth, it would be wise to listen, and lets not forget, anybody would have some explaining to do if

On March 1st, 2025 at 13:37HRS Larry Oscar Anderson crossed the finish-line of this life, and transitioned from earthly labor to his heavenly reward. Larry was greeted at heavens gates with open arms by his parents Elijah and Pearlie-Mae (Sally), (sisters) Dorris Heard & Elaine Jones. (Brothers) Jo Nathan, and Elijah Anderson Jr.

Those left to cherish precious memories and bid the finest farewell are his devoted wife, Alberta Anderson,  loving children: Lawrance Marcus Anderson, Kwajalein Anderson-Fuller(Aaron) Lisa Anderson Ewuzie, William Anderson(Theresa)  grandaughter/daughter Qiana Anderson, and  honorary daughter Claudia Washington, grandchildren: Elijah Ewuzie, Qiana Anderson, Addison Anderson-Fuller, Josephine Anderson, Aleena Anderson-Fuller, Layla Ewuzie, honorary grandson Devon Washington and a host of nieces and nephews, extended family  and many friends who will miss him dearly.

You may plant a tree to honor the legacy, order floral tributes, send words of encouragement, and sign the electronic register book through our website that will be delivered to the location of service.

The final and most sacred arrangements have been entrusted to the professional “EXCELLENT” care of Master Casey's Home For Funerals – Chicago in divine connection & partnership through Harris Funeral Directors Inc – Denver.
