“To everything there is a season; a time to be born…”
Ecclesiastes 3:1
It was a beautiful day in Harvey Illinois (Cook County), on March 1st 1961to be exact, that Maxrea Sr. and Mary Patsy Murphy-Tolen welcomed a beautiful baby girl as she made her grand entrance into the world. Being one of five siblings to this union, after much thought & consideration, they made the executive decision to name their unique bundle of joy, Renee Tolen.
“When I was a child…”
II Corinthians 13:11
Throughout her early years, Renee was a good student who understood the importance of an education. Even though she was serious when it was needed, she loved joking around with everyone, and didn’t cause any trouble. After four years of studying diligently, Renee graduated fromThronton Township High School in Harvey, IL. She was a loyal Wildcat and active with the TTHS Class of 1979 Alumni Association. Renee was a licensed cosmetologist and obtained her teaching certification in that field. She also earned a bachelor’s degree in computer science from Robert Morris College in 2003.
Renee used her educational skills while, working at the JC Penny’s Salon & multiple privately owned Hair Salons. That girl could “whip some hair.” She was also employed using her computer skills at Best Buy.
“A time to love…”
Ecclesiastes 3:8
Now in the spare time on any given day, you could find her doing one of the things she cherished most, that is utilizing her gift in creativity and transforming a bad hair day to a masterpiece that would give the community something to talk about. Renee enjoyed reading, playing Bid Whist, listening to “Oldies” crocheting and knitting. She was somewhat of a Foodie, who loved exploring new restaurants. Renee was a spiritual person vs. a religious one, that was always trying to encourage others to do and be their best. Although Renee loved reading the Bible, and enjoyed talking on the prayer line, she was quite philosophical in her thought process. That is what made her the unforgettable individual that she was. Renee definitely had a way with words, She didn’t just answer your questions, but she would leave you with something to think about.
Now hold on, we cant forget to mention about her motivation to continue fighting, and that was her daughters, the grandchildren, and her cats Cuddy & Betty White.
“I’m now ready to be offered…”
