Willa Mae McGarity 72, of Chicago Illinois heard the master say, "Well Done, thy good and faithful servant" on March 3rd, 2018. She crossed the finish-line of this life, and transitioned from earthly labor to her heavenly reward. Willa was met in eternal bliss by her Parents J.B and Lula Mae, Sister Mildred McGarity , Brother Wallace McGarity and loving companion Jessie Cotledge.
Signature Legacy Farewell Celebration will commence Monday March 12th, 2018 located at the New Faith Baptist Church - Chicago 8400 S. Halsted, promptly at 11am, with calling hours from 10am until the time of service. Gracious Host Pastor Rev Dr. Howard Randolph, Rev. Dr Steven E. Williams Jr Officiating.
On a cool crisp fall day, Willa Mae McGarity was born to the union of J.B. & Lula Mae McGarity in Covington, TN on October 23, 1945.
Willa confessed her hope in Christ at an early age and was educated through the public-school system in the great state of Tennessee.
Willa relocated from her roots in the south to the Windy City of Chicago in the late 1960’s. She later met the love of her life Jessie Cotledge. The love between Jessie and Willa was a bond that lasted over 30 years. While in Chicago, Willla began her professional career at the United States Postal Service. On May 7th, 1979 Willa officially retired from the United States Postal Service after many years of service.
Willa was a member of New Canaan Land M.B. Church serving under the pastoral leadership of the Late Rev. B.C. Clady & the Late Rev. J.C. Weathers. Willa later moved her membership to Greater Zion Temple M.B. Church under the leadership of the Late Rev. Logan & her current Pastor Rev. Dr. Dewitt Harris, Jr., serving on the usher board until her health began to fail.
Willa was always the life of the party on any occasion! Willa loved her music, loved to dance, loved being around her family & loved her bowling!
Those bidding the finest farewell, Special Nephew Steven E. Williams Jr, siblings, Robert Fitzpatrick, James Whitley, Samuel Ingram, Linda McGarity-White, Dorothy Ingram Miller,and Evelyn McGarity. and a host of other extended relatives and friends.
The family has chosen The Mortuary Master - Adam J. Casey and Funeral Services Of Distinction Inc - Chicago to provide the finest farewell.
